Review and Invitation: Treffpunkt Bauwende – Regenerative Building in Berlin

Until construction begins, Treffpunkt Bauwende will turn the Bauakademie site into a space for sustainable building experiments and public exchange - bringing regenerative building materials to the heart of Berlin.

The Federal Bauakademie Foundation (BSBA) and Bauhaus Earth are dedicating the summer of 2025 to regenerative construction methods through their program “Treffpunkt Bauwende – Regeneratives Bauen”. At the center lies the ReBuilt project – an initiative by Bauhaus Earth in collaboration with partners from Germany, South Africa, Indonesia, and Bhutan that explores and showcases new materials, building practices, and supply chains. The ReBuilt project presents concrete approaches for a regenerative future of the built environment.

Exhibition elements and urban furniture made of reused demolition materials – designed by raumlaborberlin – invite visitors to engage in a dialogue about preventing demolition and promoting the preservation of existing buildings.

The exhibition´s opening was celebrated on the 16th of June 2025 with many guests on site. Treffpunkt Bauwende was opened by Dirk Scheinemann (BMWSB), Prof. Dr. Guido Spars (Federal Bauakademie Foundation), Prof. Dr. Philipp Misselwitz and Georg Hubmann (Bauhaus Earth).

A big thank you goes to everyone involved for the inspiring collaboration, the open atmosphere, and the engaging exchange on the site.

As part of the Day of Architecture, two guided tours will take place:

  • Saturday, 28th of June 2025, 13:00
  • Sunday, the 29th of June 2025, 15:00

Location: Site of the Federal Bauakademie Foundation, Schinkelplatz 1, 10117 Berlin-Mitte

The exhibition will remain freely accessible to visitors until September 30, 2025.
