Mandate

The Federal Bauakademie Foundation is a non-profit organisation that engages with all issues related to the future of urban planning, building and housing.

Foundation and mission

In 2019, the German federal government established the Federal Bauakademie Foundation as a non-profit foundation under civil law. As its owner, the foundation will operate the future Bauakademie building in the centre of Berlin and, together with cooperation partners, create a platform that strengthens the innovative power of the construction value chain in its social, technical and cultural dimensions. The Federal Bauakademie Foundation acts as a neutral institution with a public mandate. Without self-interest, it supports the necessary transformation processes toward sustainable and climate-friendly building practices. In doing so, it builds bridges between construction research, industry and policy.

Through events and exhibitions, the Federal Bauakademie Foundation introduces the interested public, especially young people, to the construction industry, creates forums for dialogue between the construction industry, science and politics and test solutions for challenges in the construction and planning industry in real-world labs. The Federal Bauakademie Foundation is currently being established.

Organisation

The Federal Bauakademie Foundation was founded by the German Federal Government on 24 January 2019, following a resolution passed by the Bundestag. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building and is a non-profit foundation under civil law.
