Digital Building Stock and Its Social Value
How can digital building data help improve planning, construction, and operational processes in ways that are both climate-conscious and socially responsible?
The existing building stock plays a key role in determining whether climate targets can be met, resources conserved, and housing costs kept stable. The transformation dialogue “Digital Building Stock and Its Social Value” highlights the significant potential that lies particularly within existing buildings. While new constructions are already planned using digital, model-based methods, much of the existing building stock remains largely analogue — even though it accounts for the majority of construction activity in Germany.
The event brings together stakeholders from public administration, the housing and real estate sector, as well as planning and construction practice. Drawing on practical examples, participants will explore how digital models, material registries, and data-driven building management can transform the planning, operation, and refurbishment of buildings.

The aim is to improve decision-making processes, facilitate participation, and make climate strategies for existing buildings economically viable. The transformation dialogue provides space for the exchange of experiences, dialogue, and different perspectives on the societal impacts of digitizing the existing building stock.
