Save the date: Exhibition opening on the 15th of May 2025
Exhibition of semester projects for the Bauakademie by master's students from HfT Stuttgart, HS-Anhalt, and TU Berlin
Students at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HfT) in Prof Rebecca Chestnutt's Department of Design and Design Theory completed a design project on the new Bauakademie building.
Similarly, students from Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Design and Building Construction led by Professor Peter Apel, as well as students from the Technical University of Berlin in the Architecture for Health/Future department led by Professors Elisabeth Broermann and Adrian Nägel, took on the same task.
In doing so, the students also engaged with the institution of the Federal Bauakademie Foundation, exploring the following questions:
- What must a building, which houses an institution dedicated to exploring the future of building, need to be capable of?
- How can it honor both the historical legacy of Schinkel's Bauakademie and the innovative spirit of Karl Friedrich Schinkel?
- How much construction is enough in times of dwindling resources?
- And above all: How must we build in order to achieve a transformation in the construction industry?
These questions are driving the next generation of architects.
The Federal Bauakademie Foundation wishes to showcase these student projects with an exhibition and make them accessible to the interested public in the “Roter Saal” (Schinkelplatz 1, 10117 Berlin). We warmly invite you to the exhibition opening on the 15th of May 2025 at 6:00 PM. The students will share their ideas and approaches in a discussion with Mr. Lars Rohwer, Member of Parliament and a member of the Federal Bauakademie Foundation´s Council, and Achim Wollschläger, The Foundation´s Representative for Construction Design.
The exhibition will also be open to visitors from the 16th to the 18th of May, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. No registration is required.
