The German Sustainability Award celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Launched in 2008, the sponsor is the German Sustainability Award Foundation (Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.) in cooperation with the German federal government, municipal umbrella organizations, trade associations, civil society organizations and research institutions. The award honors ecological and social commitment. A special category is the German Sustainability Award for Architecture, which is being presented this year for the tenth time. The German Sustainability Award for Architecture recognizes outstanding and exemplary achievements in architecture that contribute decisively toward the transformation to a sustainable life and economy, are characterized by great innovative power, and demonstrate a high level of design quality. As a central platform for knowledge in the field of sustainable construction and as an institutional partner, the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen mbH, DGNB) is the lead organization responsible for the competition in coordination with the German Sustainability Award Foundation. Decisions on the best projects, the nominees, and the winner are made by a jury of experts. Prof. Guido Spars has been appointed as a member of the jury for selecting the best projects of 2022. The jury will convene in Stuttgart in July. The award will be presented at a gala in Düsseldorf in December 2022.
